A coffee enema is a great way to detoxify your liver, but should only be performed when the colon is clean.

There are a few simple steps you need to follow to get started with a coffee enema. Below we have mentioned step by step procedure to prepare and perform coffee enema at home.

1. Preparing the coffee- To prepare the coffee for the enema, add 3 tbsp. of organic ground coffee to 1 quart of distilled water (make sure not to use tap water). Boil the coffee for 3 minutes and allow it to simmer for 20 more minutes. Strain the coffee and allow it to cool at body temperature.

2. Set up the enema bag- Follow the instructions provided with the enema kit and set it up. Fill the enema bag with the prepared coffee solution and hang it on a towel rack. Make sure that the coffee is neither too hot nor too cold.
3. Keep some towels handy- You can keep some towels handy for added comfort and cleaning later.

4. Use a lubricant- To make the insertion of the hose more comfortable, you should use a lubricant such as Vaseline, olive oil or coconut oil. Apply the lubricant on the tip of the hose and the anus before inserting the hose.

5. Remove air pockets- Before you get started with the procedure it is better to get rid of any air bubbles from the enema line. For this, allow some of the solution to flow through the hose. As soon as the hose is filled with the enema solution you can turn off the water flow.

6. Getting started with the task- Now that you are all set to perform your coffee enema, lie down on your right side or your back. Now take the lubricated end of the hose and gently insert it up your rectum. When you think you are ready, open the clamp and allow the water to flow into your rectum. If you think that the water is moving too fast, you can control the flow with the help of the pinch clamp. Once the entire solution is administered, remove the enema tip. Allow the coffee for not more than 10-12 minutes.

7. Release- Once you have retained the solution for the stipulated time, you can release it. A coffee enema, though beneficial for your body, should not be performed more than 2 times a week.
