How to Use Castor Oil to Reduce Constipation?

A majority of the entire world’s population deals with the common gastrointestinal problem which is constipation. We all get constipated at least once in our lifetime. If you can’t tell whether you are constipated or not, look for your bowel movement to know. If you are having three or lesser bowel movements in a week then you are constipated. Dehydration, lack of fiber in the food, excessive intake of calcium, lack of physical activities and certain medicines might be the common reasons for constipation.

The most common treatment for easing constipation is using over the counter laxatives. But the side effect of these laxatives is that over the time these may make you dependent on these even for a regular bowel movement. This is the reason why natural remedies are the best for easing out constipation.

Different ways to utilize olive oil for treating constipation:

One such natural remedy to ease constipation is olive oil and can be used in different ways to ease out constipation:

[1] Olive oil as a laxative drink- one way is to consume olive oil orally with drinks to loosen up the stools.

Olive oil with milk- You can use olive oil with warm milk to ease out firm stools. It also lubricates the colon easing out the bowel movement.

Olive oil with coffee- If you are a coffee person then you can also add castor to your coffee.

Olive oil in juices- if you are lactose intolerant or can’t deal with the caffeine kick then you may also take it with fresh vegetable or fruit juices.

Combine 1 tbsp. olive oil with milk, coffee or your favorite juice and consume it at night before going to bed.

[2] Olive oil with fruits- You can also drizzle it on your fruits or veggies. Just make sure that you only use fibrous fruits and veggies such as apple, pineapple, orange, banana, carrots, sweet potatoes, beetroot, cabbage, broccoli, etc. you can prepare a fruit or vegetable salad and dress with an olive oil dressing. Eat this salad at night with your dinner or you can also have it by itself.

[3] Olive oil enema If the above two methods don’t work for you then you can try olive oil enema. An enema is the process of introducing an enema solution into the colon via the rectum using an enema kit to initiate a bowel movement. But make sure to consult your doctor before performing the enema and also take care of any precautions.

(i) Combine 1-quart warm filtered water and add 2 tablespoons organic olive oil in a pot.

(ii) Transfer the prepared concoction to an enema bag kit and administer it normally.

(iii) Hold the solution for 10 minutes and then go to the toilet to evacuate the contents.

An enema is recommended for only severe constipation and should not be used very often.
